The Mississippi sports betting sector experienced a dramatic surge in March, with a staggering 707.4% increase in earnings compared to the same period last year. This remarkable growth was driven by a significant rise in player participation, with bets placed increasing by 372.0%.

The state’s gambling establishments were compelled to temporarily shut down in mid-March of last year due to the pandemic, which had a substantial impact on sports betting revenue. However, this year, March earnings reached a record $5.2 million, a considerable leap from the $648,647 generated in March 2020.

The robust performance in March also signifies a 13.0% increase from the preceding month, February, which witnessed $4.6 million in revenue.

Mississippi residents placed a total of $50.5 million in wagers on sporting events in March, a substantial increase from the $10.7 million wagered in the same timeframe last year. This figure also represents a 5.7% increase from January’s $47.8 million.
