A well-known internet wagering service, BetMGM, recently notified its members of a data security lapse. Unauthorized access was gained to certain personal data of some players.
The extent of the exposed information differed among users, but potentially encompassed identifiers, contact information, dates of birth, and account details. Fortunately, BetMGM has indicated no evidence suggests that login credentials or user funds were compromised.
The company suspects the origin of the breach dates back to May 2022, but it wasn’t detected until November 28th of the same year. Upon uncovering the incident, BetMGM promptly initiated an investigation with digital security specialists to determine the cause and scope of the breach.
BetMGM’s chief executive, Adam Greenblatt, has issued a public apology for any resulting disruptions and reassured users that the protection of their platform and user information is paramount. The company is advising users to exercise heightened vigilance regarding any unusual activity and to report any possible spam connected to their personal data. As an additional safeguard, BetMGM is providing two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft restoration services to all impacted users.

This agreement spans multiple years, so anticipate a significant MGM presence throughout the Bridgestone Arena. They are going so far as to establish a dining and beverage venue within a suite level!
