The Roman Empire Sportsbook is aggressively pursuing ESPN’s premier NFL insider, Adam Schefter.
Executive Suite Athletics reports that Schefter’s agreement with ESPN concludes next summer, and Caesars is prepared to present him with a substantial proposition as they aim to bolster their lineup of talent with another prominent figure. As sports wagering platforms like Caesars strive to become major forces in the sports media realm, not just betting entities, Schefter could be positioned for a significant financial windfall.
Schefter transitioned to ESPN from the NFL Network in 2009 and has become a fixture on programs such as “Sunday NFL Pre-Game,” “Monday Night Pre-Game,” “NFL Live,” “Good Morning America,” and “SportsCenter.”
Caesars has already lured away some ESPN personalities, recently securing Kenny Mayne and Trey Wingo, but they are encountering fierce competition from rivals like DraftKings and FanDuel, as per sources.
Neither ESPN nor Caesars has issued a statement, but an insider informed Executive Suite Athletics, “ESPN undoubtedly intends to retain Schefter. If you’ve observed, they’ve been providing him with an expanded role, even permitting him to explore NBA reporting if he’s inclined.”
Conversely, another source indicated, “The media environment is undergoing a rapid transformation. Conventional television networks are seeking to reduce or maintain talent compensation. Sportsbooks possess substantial financial resources and are increasingly inclined to invest heavily in media personalities.”
Rumors circulating suggest that prominent NBA journalist Adrian Wojnarowski is another high-profile individual who might be pursued by sportsbooks in the foreseeable future.
