WynnBet and Betr are discontinuing their sports wagering platforms in the Bay State. This choice aligns with WynnBet’s broader plan to reduce its footprint in numerous U.S. markets, intending to cease activities in eight states.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) verified that Betr ended its services on February 16th and received the green light from the MGC during a public forum on February 21st. Betr patrons have until March 16th to retrieve funds from their accounts. Following this deadline, any remaining balances will be forwarded to Massachusetts clients through mailed checks.

WynnBet declared its departure from Massachusetts in mid-February. The MGC affirmed that the company is in the process of winding down its operations within the Commonwealth. Users will retain access to their wagering records until March 12th. Past this date, WynnBet will directly reach out to patrons who have unsettled wagers requiring resolution.

In August, WynnBet had already revealed its decision to shutter operations in multiple U.S. states. Initially, they indicated that Massachusetts and Nevada would remain unaffected, while New York and Michigan were under evaluation.

On its Massachusetts FAQ webpage, WynnBet explains: “WynnBet has reached the business determination to close its mobile sports wagering services in Massachusetts.”

However, our friends at Encore Boston Harbor will continue the retail sports wagering activity, both at their location and on those terminals.”

Regarding activity, just recently, Caesars Entertainment acquired Wynn Resorts’ WynnBet digital gaming business in Michigan.
